From Small Beginnings…
In the early 1980s a bright young Manchester University Biochemistry graduate opened a small craft bakery in Pendlebury, having identified a niche in the market for delivering sandwich platters to businesses that might formerly have taken clients out to lunch. Using the bakery to produce a range of artisan breads and patisserie products using high quality locally-sourced ingredients, Impact Catering soon became known for it’s imaginative take on the ‘business lunch’ catering for the business community in the North West.
The business flourished and an entrepreneurial spirit – coupled with a passion for high quality ingredients – encouraged him to open his first Bistro in the village of Monton, with restaurants in Leigh and Culceth quickly following. Within 10 years the business had become quite a thriving community, encompassing the bakery, three restaurants and a deli. The young graduate had come a long way since his days delivering sandwiches around Manchester and decided to follow his heart and up sticks to live the good life in France with his wife and young family.
Having worked within the business since the very early days, Sarah and Gary (realising Gary’s dream of becoming a rock star was becoming increasingly unlikely) bought the Impact Catering bakery in March 1997 with 4 young children in tow!
Come Great Things…
In the beginning things were hectic; juggling the competing demands of four small children with renovating a new house and learning to run a business! However, we had the passion of youth on our side coupled with seemingly endless energy and boundless enthusiasm and the business continued to flourish. So much so that within a couple of years it was clear that we were rapidly outgrowing the small craft bakery. After much searching however, in 2009, we managed to find the ideal site to set up shop, building a brand new state-of-the art kitchen from the ground up in a new city centre location (complete with it’s own flagpole)!
Fast Forward Almost 20 Years!
Impact Catering is now well and truly a family business with our two sons William and Joe and daughter Sophie now important members of the team, helping to further grow the business.
Whilst we still embrace the principles upon which the business was founded – believing passionately that good food can only ever be the product of quality ingredients – over the years we have expanded the range of menus and services on offer. So whilst the same basic choices are still available (after all, a freshly baked sausage roll is still as tasty today!) these are complemented by more contemporary options providing greater choice and variety and reflecting the diverse tastes of an increasingly food-conscious clientele. We also now offer a range of additional services to complement our delicious food to ensure your event is a resounding success, from waiting-on and bar staff to equipment & linen hire. In fact, whatever additional services you might require, just ask and we will do our best to organise it for you, committing ourselves, as always, to not simply meeting, but exceeding, your expectations!
